About Electric Radiant  Floor Heating

More and more homeowners have discovered the warmth of electric radiant floor heating, which keeps the bathroom nice and warm as well as every other floor in the house. While underfloor heating systems have been popular in northern regions as well as the upper Mid West, two benefits have made the systems popular in warmer regions as well. One is the increasing popularity of ceramic and marble tiles being used.
Homeowners are installing tiles in their bathroom, foyers, and kitchens just to name a few of the many rooms people, are installing tile flooring.  The other benefit of the system is its quick and easy installation.

Imagine – your children are asleep, and you’ve just enjoyed soaking in a nice, hot, relaxing bath, relieving the stresses of the day. However, once you step out of the tub, you can step onto ice-cold ceramic tile flooring, or onto warm ceramic tile flooring.

Electric underfloor heating systems do not require any special installation procedures, other than the ensuring that all debris is removed so that the heating elements are not damaged. These systems are designed to be installed directly under the tile or stone flooring, therefore all you have to do is simply prepare the subfloor as you would for any conventional tile or stone installation. In addition, any loose boards should be secured and any gaps filled to guarantee the installation of the electric mat over a smooth surface.

Electric radiant underfloor heating systems can be installed in renovations or in new constructions and is UL approved and perfect for any room.  It has been predict that by 2008 approximately 50% of all medium to high-end tile or stone installations will also include electric radiant underfloor heating as well. This prediction has completely blown away the myth that only colder climates use underfloor-warming systems.

Living in the Deep South, I can tell you that my sunroom has heated floors. Which, I may add, supplies enough heat in the wintertime to turn our three-seasons sunroom into a room we can enjoy year around. Once we installed the underfloor heating system in our sunroom, we love it so much we also had it installed in our kitchen, and bathrooms when we remolded. Electric underfloor heating is an investment I’m glade we made.
